Detailed Description

ResMed Chin Restraint - The Alternative to a Full Face Mask

If you breathe through your mouth at night or during CPAP therapy, this is referred to as mouth leakage. This can significantly impair the quality of the therapy. If air escapes through the mouth when using a nasal or nasal pillow mask, the benefit of the delivered treatment pressure is reduced. If you predominantly exhale through your mouth, leading to mouth leaks, it is advisable to use a full face mask, which also covers the mouth. Unpleasant side effects such as a dry throat or a stuffy nose can be minimized with a full face mask. Reduce mouth leaks with the ResMed chin restraint Since some people do not get along with a full face mask, the ResMed chin restraint is recommended as an alternative. It is designed to restrict mouth opening during CPAP therapy and thus reduce leaks through the mouth. The ResMed chin restraint can be combined with all common nasal or nasal pillow masks. Instructions for use The chin restraint can be put on either before or after putting on the mask.

However, if a firm fit is required, thread the ResMed chin restraint under your headgear as follows:

  1. Place the chin restraint over your chin after you have put on the mask and headgear.
  2. Thread the right part of the chin restraint (without Velcro fastener) under the headgear on top of the center of your head.
  3. Then thread the other part of the chin restraint (with Velcro fastener) over the headgear and the right chin restraint on top of your head.
  4. Then close the Velcro fastener to secure both the chin restraint and the headgear.
